Literally everyone in the world knows that Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Drones are here to stay. Drones are becoming more necessary in many industries in order for these companies to remain competitive.  From package delivery to Aerial video for marketing, movie and film making, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.  Drones are used in almost every industry in some form or fashion today. Individuals or companies can purchase a high-end drone for personal use at reasonable prices in SAMS Club, Best Buy, Walmart, and Costco for under $1500.00.  The Military and government use of drones is becoming the primary tool for surveillance and weapons deployment.

The market for drones has turned into a multi-billion dollar industry due to this disruptive technology.  Robotics and remote controlled vehicles and mechanisms are a reality today that was not even feasible in the past decade to consumers and businesses. The federal and state regulations are becoming more and more complex due to safety and privacy concerns.

The problem with drones:  "They can do serious damage to people and property. They even can take down a commercial airliner, helicopter, airplane or injure people or property if not safely operated. Without proper training, people can get into serious trouble with state and federal laws without knowing that they are violation a Regulation or a State or Federal or International Law. Reports of drones impacting commercial aircraft operations are on the rise, with Safety implications that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) must address."

So how do we address these safety concerns and problems?

This is a complex problem that requires several steps and Technology Innovations:

SOLUTION:

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

1. Deliver UAS FAR 107 Safety Training & Education for Consumers, Government, Industry, and Military.

2. Deliver commercial UAS FAR 107 certification training, with regulatory information for commercial operators.

3. Train on Industry applications and job opportunities with drones.

4. Train people to operate drones safely with hands-on flying.

5. Train Air Traffic Controllers and Pilots about drone operations.

TECHNOLOGY INNOVATIONS:

  • Incorporate shared situational awareness of flight operations for drone pilots and commercial and general aviation pilots- Real-time display of aircraft/drones.

  • Improved conflict detection and avoidance technologies. Sense and Avoid Airspace and Air Traffic.

  • Develop Apps to enhance safety of drone operations for operators, educate them about restrictions and use of drones.
